We camped at a friend of a friend's ranch outside of Hill City. He owns and operates the Bittersweet Ranch Camp (www.bittersweetranchcamp.com), is a farrier, mule skinner and cowboy poet. On our last night, he joined us for a supper of hobo dinners, s'mores and hot chocolate. After supper, he entertained us by sharing his poetry. We had a great time camping and sightseeing.
If you are wanting to camp in the Black Hills, I highly recommend Donely's place.

I want to go! What a blast--the "wanted" poster made me laugh, as well as the "prairie dogs." And it looks like BethArlene is as full of fun as ever. Glad you guys "squeezed" so much into your trip. (And at the rate you're going, you're going to rack up enough posts to fence a pasture--I love it.)
